Imperial Prosperity & Expansion

The Reign of an Empire!
Current year is 321 P.A. (Principium Aetas).

In Valoria, the newest Duchy of the Lithian Empire, things are progressing well; adventurers set out daily from its towns and villages to investigate the unexplored and perilous places throughout the lands.

Those that return, often do so laden with treasure, knowledge, and power, fueling the continued expansion of Valoria in all directions.

Lithia is pleased with her newest Duchy’s performance and is always eager and impatient for her next treasure caravan to arrive.

Valoria has been given a certain amount of leeway in its operations by the Empress, as an isolated and far flung frontier Duchy.

So long as the treasure flows and the land under her banner grows, Lithia allows Valoria to govern its own affairs, set its own common laws, and even anoint its own Nobility.

Year: 321 P.A.

The Time of Ice
Over 300 years ago, the world was gripped by a brief but devastating ice age.
To make matters worse, the Ice seemed to cool the very powers of the cosmos itself.

In every discipline, the most skilled among them reported a lessening in their capacity to use their abilities. When the Ice finally receded and warmth was felt again, the survivors of that terrible time found themselves in a world that was unrecognizable; the receding Ice left behind a changed landscape.

Every race, every civilization was impacted by the Ice. The Ice had scoured much of the land, removing or relocating all that stood before it during the time of it’s inexorable flow.

All that was left of any nation or civilization could be found in possession of the folk who carried them or tucked away in those few safe warm places that they had called home for so long.

Lithia Reigns

The Empire's legions are vying for the world, the stomp of its leather boots heard from Valoria in the west through the docks off the Dicervian Sea in the east!

As oppressed beings everywhere writhe under the Lithian lash, master and slave, freeman and vassal, are united in one compulsory worship; the Empress, Lithia is lord of every being's body and spirit!

For those who will not submit, the galleys, the arenas, even permanent service in undeath await!

Magic Is Here!

The orcs attack! The clash of steel against steel rings out as your warriors battle against the monsters.

You stand behind the fighters, an incantation at the tip of your lips, as you watch for an opportunity.

There is a break in the ranks as one of the fighters steps back momentarily.
You recite an arcane phrase and a ball of flame forms about your hand. You cast the Fireball at the orc and the your enemy screams in pain as flames envelop it;
you are powerful!

The Political Structure of Telemere

By far the most common system of government throughout most of the known world is feudal.

The most powerful political personages in the realm are the Kings, Queens, Emperors, & Empresses of their respective Kingdoms & Empires.
Their word is law and all things belong to them.

Beneath them are their respective Dukes and Duchesses. Their authority is projected through vassals, to the barons directly beneath them, then to the lords of the smallest rural holdings.

Oaths of absolute loyalty, fealty, and service are sworn to the Duke & Duchess by their Barons. The Barons & Baronesses receive similar oaths from their subordinates and this continues in an unbroken chain down to the Vassals of the lowest Lords & Ladies.

The Duchy of Valoria

Located in a lush, fertile valley, Valoria is a Duchy of The Lithian Empire, which controls vast swaths of Telemerian lands & peoples.

Lithia

Capitol of The Lithian Empire

“Meh…there are worse places in the world to grow up. Don’t cause any trouble, obey the rules, stay out of the way of your betters, and with very little effort you can enjoy all the comforts such a modest life will provide.

However, if you are willing to work hard, train hard, and risk your life day in and day out, there are no ends to what you can achieve. The Duke of Aquilar himself started out adventuring, so… you never know.”

Monsters

The Greenskin Hordes

Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, and Orgres make up the vast bulk of the Greenskins that serve as the main living soldiers for the forces of evil.

Varying in numbers and capabilities, these corruptions of Nature assail all good peoples from almost every direction. These creatures can derive sustenance from almost anything, survive unbelievable conditions, and reproduce and mature with astonishing speeds.

These Greenskins range from the startlingly useless (but never ending) goblin hordes to the few devastating ogres that dominate on the battlefield.

Undead & Necromancy

Necromancers use their magic spells and rituals to animate corpses and create powerful undead versions of the once living from dead bodies.

Necromancers have total control over their undead and in short order a skilled Necromancer can assemble a force that can easily threaten villages or unwary caravans.

Ritually created undead are especially powerful and stand as the pinnacle achievement for Necromancers.
The Death Knights, Death Assassins, and Death Mages created by these rituals are often found leading hordes of lesser undead, assassinating the powerful, or casting powerful magics to support the undead forces that seem to occasionally harry all living people.

Some would say that using magic to raise the dead is just good business. Those people are evil of course, but they do say that.

Some would also say that Evil is the true power behind Necromancy and that there is nothing Good in animating dead flesh and enslaving dead spirits to do the bidding of the living.
But what do they really know anyway?

Necromancy is officially considered illegal in all of its forms in almost all corners of Telemere.
Unofficially, if you are in the right place, are the right person, or know the right people, Necromancy is not so illegal as it may seem; if you can fix any public commotion caused by your acts, things often work out favorably.

However, get caught using Necromancy in the wrong place, by the wrong people and you may face some severe consequences including death and banishment from wherever you are caught.

Mythical Monsters & Mysteries abound everywhere!
